The number of South Carolinians in intensive care because of COVID-19 is rising as the fast-spreading respiratory virus continues its winter surge across the nation.
State health officials reported 2,364 new confirmed cases and 14 probable cases of the novel coronavirus on Monday, along with 11 additional confirmed deaths and one probable death.
Monday s announcement represents the test results and deaths reported to the state on Saturday.
Greenwood County added 47 confirmed cases of COVID-19, Laurens County recorded 35, Abbeville and Saluda counties each logged nine, and McCormic County saw five.
This brings South Carolina s number of confirmed cases to 236,785, probable cases to 17,991, confirmed deaths to 4,398 and probable deaths to 353.
